Bird York

Kathleen "Bird" York is an American actress, screenwriter and songwriter-recording artist. She was nominated for Academy Award for best original song "In the Deep" from the 2004 film Crash. She is known for her roles in television series The West Wing, Aaron's Way and "Curb Your Enthusiam" .
York started her acting career in Los Angeles while in her teens. Credits include "Northern Lights" opposite Diane Keaton, Working Title's "Checking Out", Disney's "Nightjohn", Avenue Picture's "Cold Feet", Oscar winning "Crash" as well as her critically acclaimed performance as a young Naomi Judd in the NBC miniseries Naomi & Wynonna: Love Can Build a Bridge (1995).

York was a series regular in the ABC seriesAaron's Way and Vengeance Unlimitedfor NBC. Other film credits include Cries of Silence, The Big Day, Ball Don't Lie. She played recurring roles in Murder One, and Desperate Housewives, The O.C. She also was a series regular in season one of The Client List in 2012.

Musically, York achieved global recognition with her song "In the Deep", (co-written with Michael Becker) which appears on her album Wicked Little High and was written for the 2005 film Crash. "In the Deep" was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Song with York performing the song live at the 78th Academy Awards in 2006. York's other music credits include the main theme song in Sony Pictures Seven Pounds' as well as featured song placements in House, American Idol, Nip/Tuck, CSI: NY, In Justice, Jake 2.0 Warehouse 13 and So You Think You Can Dance. Bird's earlier releases include the self titled Bird York. Her EP Have No Fear was released independently in 2008.

As a screenwriter, York developed projects for John Wells Warner Brothers, Sony, Paramount and Fox Broadcasting Network. She is an alumnus of the Showrunners Training Program facilitated by the Writers Guild of America and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers.
