The New York-based hair metal quartet White Lion was formed in 1983 by Mike Tramp (vocals) and Vito Bratta (guitar), who brought on James Lomenzo (bass) and ex-Anthrax member Greg D'Angelo (drums) shortly before the group recorded its 1987 major-label debut, Pride. Influenced by groups such as Van Halen, but with an emotion and political bent rather than sexist themes typical of the era, Pride reached the Top 20 thanks to the success of the Top 10 singles "Wait" and "When the Children Cry." This paved the way for 1989's Big Game and its hit cover of "Radar Love." Following the release of 1991's Mane Attraction, White Lion broke up. |
