Thin Lizzy

Brian Downey, Scott Gorham, John Sykes, Darren Wharton, Marco Mendoza. THIN LIZZY was formed in 1969 by Brian Downey, Phil Lynott and Eric Bell, they had several releases with this line-up the biggest being WHISKEY IN THE JAR which made the UK top ten. Eric Bell left the band on New Year’s Eve 1973. Brian and Phil had several other guitarists until June 1974 when Scott Gorham and Brian Robertson joined the band. The new line-up debuts at the Reading festival and they signed a new recording deal with phonograms vertigo label. This line-up existed until 1977 when Robertson left the band. In 1981 18 year old Darren Wharton (later to form Dare) joined on Keyboards. Along with ex-Tygers of Pantang and Street fighter guitarist John Sykes. In 1984 the band split. Their last gig was Nurenberg, Germany as part of the monsters of Rock European tour. In 1986 Phil Lynott died of pneumonia.
