Teddy Geiger (born John Theodore "Teddy" Geiger II on September 16, 1988) is an American singer and songwriter. He plays the guitar, bass, piano, drums, and trombone.
Teddy Geiger began playing piano at the age of 6 and guitar at the age of 8. He wrote his first song at the age of 10. He attended public schools in the Pittsford school district, receiving his high school education at McQuaid Jesuit High School through his Junior year and eventually graduated from Pittsford Sutherland High School through tutoring, along with the class of 2006 after a year of starting his career and receiving tutoring.
First seen in national media as a finalist in VH1's In Search of the Partridge Family, Geiger toured with Hilary Duff, serving as the opening act on the summer 2005 "Still Most Wanted Tour". His first single, "For You I Will (Confidence)", was officially released in February 2006. The song received positive reviews; it was called "sweetly romantic" and said to contain "sophisticated lyrics". His debut album, Underage Thinking, was released on March 21, 2006, and peaked at number eight (#8) in the US Billboard 200 albums chart. Geiger had a small role on the short lived television series Love Monkey, which originally aired on CBS and was later moved to VH1. He played the young up-and-coming musician Wayne Jensen, starring alongside Tom Cavanagh and Jason Priestley. His song "For You I Will (Confidence)" was featured as the theme to the show on the later episodes. He saw his record sales increase with exposure on the morning and evening talk show television circuit.
The music video for his debut single "For You I Will (Confidence)" features Laguna Beach's Kristin Cavallari. The song is also nominated for "Best Love Song" in the 2006 Teen Choice Awards. He has already released a second single, "These Walls", which began receiving steady radio airplay in September 2006 and was later released as a music video. In July 2006, it was announced that Geiger would be on the cover of Seventeen Magazine in the fall. In early October, Teddy became the first male on the cover of the magazine in five years.
His debut album Underage Thinking won the award for 'Best Album of the Year' at the annual MusiqTone MusiqAwards. He was also nominated for 'New Artist of the Year' but lost to Panic! at the Disco.
Teddy's fans have routed themselves from all over the world familiarly known as "Tedheads", whom have produced numerous fan sites in dedication to Teddy. From the smaller gigs back home at Rochester, New York, to tours footed in Australia, Japan, and all across the globe, these so-called Tedheads have given Teddy support with his music, and he notes "My fans are very important to me. Without Tedheads, I wouldn't be...Ted!"
On April 29, 2007, Teddy won the award for "Spankin' New Artist" at the Australia Music Awards.
His second album, "The March", is complete and is scheduled for a September 2007 release.
On June 1, 2007, it was announced that Teddy will star in his first feature film The Rocker alongside The Office star Rainn Wilson, Christina Applegate and Emma Stone. Geiger will play Curtis, the lead guitarist of a high school garage band that the movie focuses on.
