Stacie Orrico

Stacie Orrico was born in Seattle, Washington in 1987. The singer, who is one of five siblings, never dreamed of being a pop star when she was younger. In fact, she only dreamed of singing in the choir of churches. When she was young, her parents moved to Denver, Colorado. She grew up singing in church. At the age of twelve she came in first place for the vocalist category in the Estes Park Christian Artist Seminar. Immediately after winning, she was approached by a recording executive about a future career. At the age of fourteen, Stacie Orrico signed to Forefront Records. Her debut album entitled Genuine was released in 2000. The album did extremely well considering it was released with absolutely no press nor media buzz. Genuine was number one on the Billboard Heatseekers Chart and sold 500,000 copies. The album eventually went gold. People were attracted to audiences due to the fact she was the first singer to not morph herself into a teenage sex kitten like so many other young artists. She presented herself as a wholesome young teenage with a strong musical talent. Orrico was eventually, soon after the release of Genuine, signed to Virgin records. Her self-titled sophomore album did well. The single “Stuck” became a favorite on MTV. The album was co-produced by Dallas Austin (Pink, TLC) and Matt Serletic (Matchbox 20, Santana). Although Orrico helped write many songs, she was aided by famous songwriter Diane Warren. Stacie Orrico is generally compared to artists such as Mandy Moore, Dream, 3LW, Jewel, and Mya.
