Spiller

Spiller

Italian DJ and producer Cristiano Spiller — better known simply as Spiller — sat down to compose his very first tune in 1995, using a home PC and sampler. Barely two years later, the 6'9" Venetian was making a big noise around the world with a single, Laguna's "Spiller From Rio." The Latin-flavored house track swiftly became a club anthem and made it into the top ten on the Billboard dance charts. Not long after, Spiller applied his golden touch as a producer to tunes by high-profile artists such as Bob Sinclar ("I Feel for You"), Gloria Gaynor ("Reunion"), Run-D.M.C. ("My Funky Valentine"), and Smoke City ("Numbers"). In 1999 he again set the clubs alight with another house single, "Batacuda" — a new take on Marcos Valle's original. The following year he became one of the best-known Italian musicians thanks to his next single "Groovejet (If This Ain't Love)." Named after a Miami nightclub, the widely acclaimed disco house track was initially a moderately successful instrumental, but exploded in popularity after injected it with the vocals of the U.K.'s Sophie Ellis-Bextor (formerly of the alternative group the Audience). Along with "Modjo's Lady," "Groovejet" was arguably the biggest club tune of the year and won the top spot on singles and dance charts in many countries.

----

Cristiano Spiller, aka Spiller started his music career at the early age of 14, when he took up the turntables as his main professional vocation, choice driven mainly by the popularity that Dj's enjoyed with his female cohorts, rather than burning musical passion. It was a different kind of passion but not less honorable.

As a Dj he started in a local club in Venice EL souk an quickly moved up playing in all the major clubs in Italy. He now hold for major residencies at Glamour in Treviso, XS in Jesolo and House Nation in Jesolo (Italy) and Ambasada Gavioli (Slovenia)

His production work started in 1995 when he got hold of a sampler and a computer and started building his studio. In 1997 he came out with the Latin House classic "LAGUNA's" Spiller from Rio immediately licensed by Azuli in UK and later released by Positiva/ EMI marking in the top 30 UK National Charts and in the top 10 Billboard dance charts in the USA.

That first release won him world-wide praise and brought his production work and many notable remixes including Smoke city " Numbers" , Gloria Gaynor "Reunion", Matt Bianco featuring Kym Mazelle " Sunshine Day and Run Dmc", My Funny Valantine" among others.

Spiller second musical outing entitled "Batucada" a dance cover of the classic Marcos Valle composition, has enjoyed solid success with a first release on Peppermint Jam and then on MNW Scandinavia, Edel Germany, Positiva/EMI in the UK and MCA/Twisted in the United States.

His release " The Mighty Miami EPO " stormed the club charts in Italy and recently reached No.1 in the Italia Network Suburbia Chart. Its Italian release on Dreambeat/Fruit on the Moon was constantly hammered by Louie Vega, Francois Kevorkian, Joe Clausell, Bobby & Steve and Ralf amongst others. And of course, his track with Sophie Elis-Bextor in August 2000 " Groovejet (if this Ain't Love)" had worldwide success, boasting No. 1 in the charts, No1 Pop Top 20, No.1 ILR, No 1 Radio 1 , No.8 top dance track of 2000, and voted No.9 in the Metro Newspaper Greatest No. 1 of all time, beating the likes of Madonna and Marvin Gaye.
