Something Happens

Dublin-based quartet Something Happens is made up of vocalist Tom Dunne, guitarist Ray Harman, bassist Alan Byrne, and drummer Eamonn Ryan and plays straight-ahead, energetic, guitar-oriented pop/rock. The group's official debut album, Been There, Seen That, Done That, was issued in 1988, but disagreements over the final mix by producer Tommy Erdelyi led to a delayed release, with the live EP I Know Ray Harman coming out first. The final version of Been There omitted three tracks and added two produced by Vic Maile. 1990's Stuck Together With God's Glue, recorded for Charisma, widened the group's emotional range. Bedlam a Go Go, released in 1992, found the band in a darker mood owing to disagreements with their label over direction, which proved to be a moot point when Charisma folded. Something Happens contributed a track to the Gram Parsons tribute album in 1993 and signed with the Wild Bikini label for the next year's Planet Fabulous. In 1995, the best-of compilation The Beatings Will Continue Until Morale Improves was supported by a tour opening for Warren Zevon, and the band planned to record another album in the near future.
