Rubettes

THE RUBETTES made No. 1 in 1974 with their very first single “SUGAR BABY LOVE”, sang by the legendary Paul da Vinci and after five weeks at the No. 1 spot in the U.K. they repeated this success throughout the world. “SUGAR BABY LOVE” sold eight million copies after which the group, with their distinctive high vocals and uniquely flamboyant presentation, went on to have a further 15 International Hits establishing themselves as one of the major bands of the 70’s Glam Rock era.

Throughout the 70’s their huge popularity determined that they were constantly in demand for T.V. and Concert appearances worldwide, and after completing their 8th album for Polydor Records in 1979, they recorded for C.B.S. for a further year before retiring in 1981. The various members of THE RUBETTES then pursued a natural progression of solo projects and productions. PAUL DA VINCI released several “solo” million-selling-hits like “YOUR BABY AIN’T YOUR BABY ANYMORE”, “IF YOU GET HURT” , “IT HURTS TO BE IN OVER”. The group re-started in 1984 and in 2002 there are two line-ups of the group. Our group exists of the original founder-member BILL HURD – Keyboard / Vocals, ALEX BINES on drums, who has been with them since their reformation and PAUL DA VINCI - Lead vocals and original singer of “Sugar baby Love”, WILLIAM HILL – Bass / Vocals, and RUFUS RUFFELL – Lead guitar/Vocals.

Having sold in excess of 30 Million records to date they are regularly sought after to appear on T.V., at Clubs, Galas, and Festivals worldwide to reproduce their fabulous nostalgic sound for young and old alike, and the experience derived from many years on the road plus a wealth of “hits” rarely if ever disappoints.
