Raymond Froggatt

Raymond Froggatt

Raymond Froggatt (also known as "Froggy") was born in Birmingham 1941) and is a British singer.

Froggatt began performing rock and roll in the early 1960’s and soon gained a reputation for his well-crafted songs and exciting live performances.

Froggart’s band Monopoly were signed by Polydor in 1964 but success eluded them, though the Dave Clark Five had a hit with Froggy’s “Red Balloon”. His own version of this song, under the name of "Callow la Vita", reached nr. 3 in the Netherlands. In the 1970’s the band were managed by Don Arden, hoping to crack the USA, but the experience led to the break up of the band.

Froggy has a large live following: his unique mix of country music and roll and roll is popular with audiences all over the world. Froggy’s band now comprises long-time colleague Hartley Cain on guitar, bassist Peter Meyrick and Rosie Heywood on drums.
