Nancy Sinatra

Nancy Sinatra

Pop rock singer Nancy Sinatra got her first taste of the spotlight as Frank Sinatra's daughter, but she had a brief, successful singing career between 1966 and 1968.

Bored with student life at the University of Southern California,Sinatra began making brief appearances with her father on several of hisalbums. While never equaling her father in vocal talent, she quickly wonattention in the music business on the strength of her father's name. Sherecorded her work on Reprise Records which, incidentally, was her father's label.

Sinatra hooked up with producer Lee Hazelwood and arranger Billy Strange, who coached her to great success; almost immediately, Sinatra hit it big with the 1966 single, "These Boots Are Made for Walkin'."

That instant classic preceded several more hit singles in the next twoyears, including "Sugar Town," "Lightning's Girl," "Love Eyes" and anextremely popular duet with her dad, dubbed "Somethin' Stupid."

In 1968 Sinatra performed in her first TV special, Movin' With Nancy. She also starred in Speedway with Elvis Presley and appeared with her father on The Sinatra Family Wish You A Merry Christmas.

While she never received any critical credit as a serious artist, her mostpopular works, growled out in her distinctive, sex-kitten voice, are stillwell-known to most popular music fans.

Lately, Sinatra has branched out into other directions, releasing anautobiography about her father, and appearing in Playboy magazine.
