John Waite

John Waite

British pop-rocker John Waite began his music career in 1976 with the Babys, a power pop band that scored a 1977 hit with "Isn't It Time" before breaking up in 1981. Waite went on to a solo career, releasing his debut album, Ignition in 1982. His 1984 album, No Brakes, contained his first solo hit, "Missing You," an early MTV favorite. After the release of 1985's Mask of Smiles and 1987's Rover's Return, Waite formed the supergroup Bad English with former members of the Babys and Journey. After Bad English disbanded in 1991, Waite resumed his solo career with 1995's Temple Bar and 1997's When You Were Mine.
