Cover Girls

Group Members:

Dominican-American Louise Sabater (who is also known as Angel Clivillés), Caroline Jackson and Sunshine Wright

The Cover Girls are a New York City-based Freestyle, Urban/Dance-Pop trio, the brainchild of music promoter Sal Abbatiello. The original trio consisted of Louise Sabater (who is also known as Angel Clivillés), Caroline Jackson and Sunshine Wright. The Cover Girls are one of the first Freestyle acts to crossover to the pop music charts. Their debut album, Show Me released in 1988 on Fever Records produced five Billboard Hot 100 chart hits including "Show Me" (#44), "Spring Love" (#98), "Because Of You" (#27), "Promise Me" (#40), and "Inside Outside" (#55). This album is considered a classic in the Freestyle music genre.

In late 1988, Sunshine Wright decided to leave the group and was replaced by Margo Urban. In 1989 The Cover Girls released their 2nd album, "We Can't Go Wrong" on Capital Records. This album produced 3 Billboard hits "My Heart Skips a Beat" #38, "We Can't Go Wrong" #9 and "All That Glitters Isn't Gold" #49.

In 1990, while The Cover Girls were the opening act on The New Kids on The Block Tour, Angel Clivillés decided to leave the group to pursue a solo career. Evelyn Escalera was hired to replace Angel.

In 1992, Margo Urban decided to leave the group and was replaced by Michelle Valentine. The Cover Girls released their 3rd album "Here It Is" on Epic Records. On this effort, the only remaining original member was Caroline Jackson. Caroline, Evelyn and Michelle scored The Cover Girls second Top 10 hit "Wishing On A Star" #9. Two other singles were released and charted as well. Funk Boutique (#55), and their final chart entry to date, "Thank You" (#75).

The cover girls follow-up album, 1996's "Satisfy", only credited Michelle Valentine as a vocalist.

Since leaving The Cover Girls in 1990, Sabater has had moderate solo success on the Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart as Angel Clivillés. In 2000, she released her solo debut album, "Angel". Today Angel tours the U.S.A. as Angel (The Original Cover Girl).

In 2001, the group reformed, with Evelyn Escalera back as the lead singer. Evelyn along with Lorraine Munoz and Natalia are the current line-up of The Cover Girls. They are currently touring the U.S.A. and working on The Cover Girls' 5th album.
