Brooklyn Bounce

Brooklyn Bounce

As Brooklyn Bounce, producer/DJs Matthias "Double M" Menck and Dennis Bohn attained unexpected commercial success in the mid- to late '90s with the help of some theatrical vocalists: Alex, Ulrika, and Diablo. The two Hamburg natives had originally tasted success soon after first meeting in 1995. Their first chart hit, Boyz R Us' "Singin' in My Mind," hinted at what was to come. In 1997, the duo debuted as Brooklyn Bounce, an uncharacteristically visual dance act fronted by the aforementioned vocalists/dancers. "The Theme (Of Progressive Attack)" scaled the German dance charts as a club favorite before becoming a crossover hit for the group as well, finding success in France and Scandinavia as well as Germany. The single's success set the stage for Brooklyn Bounce's debut album, In the Beginning. Other hits and other albums followed, though the group struggled to adapt to the latest trends.

The support team for Brooklyn Bounce consists of two producers, remixers and DJs who call Hamburg home:
Matthias 'Double M' Menck and Dennis Bohn. Matthias is a qualified audio engineer, and besides living in Hamburg
also operates his own studio there. He has been able to use his specialized training not only for producing and remixing
work, but also when doing DJ gigs.
Which is why Double M is resident DJ at the Kontor, one of the Hamburg's hottest house clubs, and why he accompanied the Progressive Attack Club Tour last autumn, and why he DJs regularly at many different house clubs and has worked the turntables with the likes of Joe T. Vanelli, Robert Miles, DJ Sneak and Boris Dlugosch.

It was during a DJ job in the Traxx club in Hamburg that he met Dennis Bohn, who was working there as a light jockey. Dennis had been a drummer since age 16 and was playing with various bands when, four years ago, he discovered his love for dance and house music and first tried his hand at DJing. Since then he has been snatched up to do raves, house parties and club work, and he is now a regular feature at the Traxx and Roxx clubs in Hamburg.

Following their first meeting in August of 1995, Dennis and Matthias started "Mental Madness Productions" and scored a chart hit with their first co-production, "Singin' In My Mind", by Boyz R Us. Further productions followed-the latest including Mola Adebisi's "Shake That Body" and the duo have recently done a number of remixes for Solid,
Daisy Dee, Kool And The Gang, Bluntfunkers, Scooter, George Krantz and many others.

Matthias is also mixing the tracks for one of the top compilations in the world of house, Progressive Attack, on which
Dennis and Matthias will be releasing some of their own tracks as well under the names Toxilogic, Harmonic Beats,
Mental Madness and Dolphin Sound.

For the Progressive Attack 4 recording, the idea of producing a lead track was taken up, culminating in
Brooklyn Bounce "The Theme (Of Progressive Attack)". DJs and purchasers of the compilation
were so thrilled by this track that it was decided to release it separately as a single.

Within no time, Brooklyn Bounce "The Theme (Of Progressive Attack)" rose to No. 6 on the German Dance Charts
and became a club favourite which was followed by an incredible sales chart success: "The Theme" peeked at #9 of the
Top 100 singles sales charts. By now, Brooklyn Bounce had started their conquest of the world with chart successes in France, Scandinavia
and many other places. The first album "The Beginning" also became a big success.

The singles had been backed up by high-budget videos featuring the animated front figure "Abuna E."
thereby closing the loop to the Progressive Attack compilation series.

During gigs, Brooklyn Bounce is incarnated by Damon, the "Demon", who can also be seen in the video,
and by Ulrica and Maeva, two go-go girls from Hamburg's Traxx club.
