Eros Ramazzotti

Born on 28th October 1963 at Cinecittà, Rome, “where it is easier to dream than face reality”, Eros spent much of his boyhood working as an extra in the movies and dreaming of a fantastic career as a singer, encouraged by his father Rodolfo, a housepainter who had also recorded some songs. When he had finished middle school, Eros tried to get into the Conservatory but failed the entrance exam, and chose to study accountancy. But all he could think about was music, and he dropped out after two years.

As a Latin-pop singer, Eros Ramazzotti became especially popular in Germany, Mexico and Argentina (as well as his native Italy) during the '90s, and he has sold over 20 million records worldwide, though his success in America has been limited. He was born in the Rome suburb of Cinecitta during the mid-'60s, and moved to Milan to make a career of music as a teenager. Beginning with 1991's In Ogni Senso, Ramazzotti recorded three albums for Arista during the first half of the '90s. With a new BMG deal which included his RadioRama production company, Eros moved from pop-oriented music to more straightahead rock, even recruiting a rock band for the 1995 Rock over Europe festival. Eros Live followed in 1998.
