Golden oldie versus Evergreen

The term 'evergreen' is used a lot to indicate a great song, something like a golden oldie.

There is however a slight difference:

A golden oldie is a song that was a huge hit resulting in a golden record due to its massive selling quota. However, playing some golden oldies from the past in current age of time won't agitate people any more.

An evergreen song on the other hand is a song that is 'always green'. Playing an evergreen record will always tickle people to get them moving and shaking on the rhythm of the music. The urge to move the body, the need to sing along to these songs will always happen, in the past, today and in the future. The song will always be ever green hence evergreen
